About Site Power Engineering Consultants (SPEC)
SPEC specializes in electrical engineering, design, and project management for the turnkey delivery of
high-voltage power distribution, street lighting, telecommunications, and traffic systems. Joining our
team in Calgary, you will primarily drive utility, private power line, and street lighting projects across
our Alberta operations, while occasionally providing remote support to our expanding BC footprint.

Core Responsibilities
- Technical Excellence & Engineering (Project Engineer)
- Design & Authentication: Perform and authenticate detailed design analysis using modeling
software and proprietary tools. Review drawings, calculations, and submission packages at all
stages. - Professional Responsibility: Direct the preparation of plans for electrical site servicing and
lighting designs, taking professional responsibility for technical content (drawings,
specifications, reports) by signing and sealing packages. - Quality & Field Assurance: Conduct site investigations and field reviews (pre/postconstruction).
Assist in developing and enforcing quality management tools (checklists,
approval stamping) and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives. - Mentorship:
- Support, train, and mentor junior team members to foster technical growth.
- Design & Authentication: Perform and authenticate detailed design analysis using modeling
- End-to-End Project Delivery (Project Manager).
- Project Execution: Coordinate sub-contractors, manage material ordering/PO coordination,
and handle multi-disciplinary collaboration with clients, utilities, and external consulting
firms. - Financials & Proposals: Prepare and issue project estimates, bills of materials, proposals, and
change orders. Conduct follow-up calls and proposal loss analysis. - Regulatory & Administrative Tracking: Manage non-technical coordination (third-party
approvals, URWs, client/utility forms) and oversee document preparation for submissions,
pre-construction, and field reviews. - Process Optimization: Refine workload profiles, program tools, business processes, and
desktop procedures to maximize team efficiency.

leveraging a proactive approach to delivery project scopes, uncover referrals, and seamlessly
cross-sell SPEC’s engineering capabilities. - Value-Driven Client Management: Serve as an authoritative, equal partner to our clients.
Cultivate high-trust, “zippered” relationships across their leadership and technical teams to
eliminate project hassles and build long-term client value. - Consultative Selling (IFBP Strategy): Translate advanced technical engineering concepts into
simple, persuasive language that aligns directly with our clients’ critical success factors.
Utilize the Issues, Features, Benefits, and Proof framework to capture profitable project
additions and close new opportunities. - Proactive Risk Mitigation: Maintain thorough project awareness. Identify and mitigate nontechnical
risk drivers before they impact delivery by focusing heavily on proactive
communication, schedule alignment, and contract fidelity.

Qualifications & Skills
- Credentials: P.Eng. or P.L.Eng. registered with APEGA (or readily eligible for interprovincial
mobility via EGBC/APEGS/APEGA). - Experience: A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in electrical design or project
management. - Industry Expertise: Preferred experience with electric utility design & project delivery (e.g.,
ENMAX, FortisAlberta, BC Hydro, EPCOR, ATCO), street lighting, telecommunications design,
or land development civil engineering. - Software Toolkit:
- Asset: PLS-CADD or SPIDACALC
- Asset: AutoCAD / MicroStation
- Asset: AGi32 (or similar lighting software)
- Asset: E-TAP
- Asset: XGS Labs
- Required: MS Office suite, project scheduling software, and familiarity with
leveraging AI platforms in a professional setting.
